You are welcome with your UAV in Switzerland

 

In Switzerland you have a distinction between three weight classes:

  • Cat. 1: 1 to 500 grams (Toy drones)
  • Cat. 2: 500 grams to 30 kilos (Mavics, Phantoms, Typhoons etc.)
  • Cat. 3: Heavier than 30 kilos (only for professional use, that's not what this page is about)

 

For category 2 you have to follow the rules below:

Maximum take-off weight: 30 kilo

Maximum hight: 150 meters / 492 ft.

Maximum horizontal distance: Keep visual contact with UAV

Insurance: from 500 gram, you must have a liability insurence with a coverage of 1 Million Swiss Francs

Minimum age: 

Fireproof tag:

FPV: Allowed, but you need a spotter/Observer

Other distances:At least 100 meters of people, buildings, vehicles, vessels

Distance Airports / Heliports: 5 km / 3.18 mi.

Night flights:  Prohibited

Prohibited: above crowds, nature reserves, vehicles, vessels, buildings, near ski lifts, all winter sports area.
